Thirty years ago, if a bio father had no contact and did not support a child for several years, all that was needed was to publish a public notice in newspaper, and if there was no response, that would allow for an adoption by a step parent.
I think, the new Tx. laws or guidelines state that if the bio father has not contacted, nor supported the mother during pregnancy or for six months from date of birth, his parental rights are forfeited. Is that correct?
My grandson is nine, has not had contact or support of bio dad since 10 mo. of age. Daughter was not married to bio father ever. Daughter married 5 years ago, and husband wants to adopt the son. Do they still require case workers to investigate you and your husband to adopt, even though you are bio mother as they did 30 years ago?
Approximately what does it cost to "adopt" in a case where one parent is the biological , custodial, parent?
