What is the name of your state?tx

My boss deducts $50.00 a month for liability insurance on his trucks. All drivers do not have this deduction, When I was hired new ownership was taking place, everyone hired after that time has this deduction. I never signed or gave permission for this deduction, which shows up on your paycheck stub, but not you W-2. Is this legal, and if so what can i do???

I agree there is not much to go on but nevertheless let me post a little help for you. If you are covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act and not in someway exempt, you are entitled to both the minimum wage and overtime. I don't know what your hourly rate is , however if deductions (other than mandatory legal or employee agreed to deductions, such a SSA or health insurance) cause your regular rate to fall below the MW, then your employer would be in violation of the FLSA.

The deduction for insurance by an employer seems to becoming an issue. The employer can legally much such deductions under federal law, provided the regular rate does not fall below the MW. What this amounts to is a cut in wages as the employer is trying to force employees to assume part of the cost of business operations.
