What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan
Hello, thank you everyone for your time. So I was driving and it was dark. I was driving 45 mph and approaching an intersection. Another car was a little a head but going much slower and stopped when the light turned yellow, I decided to coast through because I saw the road and it's looked shiny (just snowed the night before but roads seamed cleared off). I though it would be better to go through than to stop and to potentially slide into the other car or into the middle of traffic. After I went through, a police officer pulled me over and said "that was too much, if I had pulled out (he wanted to turn right when I must have gone in front of him) that would have been bad..." and so I went back later that night because I thought the light may have been too short but after filming it, it doesn't seam like it and to take some pictures of the intersection. THERE WAS NOT ONE LIGHT at the intersection. It was very dark. (Btw, there was no ice when I went back and I did not say anything to the officer, I was to scared thinking about how angry my parents would be) Would me feeling it would be better to go through be a good defense in court. I WILL PLEAD GUILTY, and will act very respectful and explain my position.
Now the thing is, I have had my license for less than a month at the time of the ticket and I am currently 16. I have no dash cam and I was driving my mom's van. I will tell the court I am prepared to pay any fine and am very sorry. I just don't want any points.
How effective would this plea be?
Any tips on making my statment?
Is there anything else I can do?
Than you all for your time.
