I was harass at work site to the extent that I filed a discrimination suit against NYC hospitals. I terminated my position when the conditions became impossible despite my commitment to my patient work. I filed for unemployment benefits and was granted funds for 6 months. I felt the state and sought a higher degree 3000 miles away. As a student, I lived in several different places since the school was a distance from the place where I had chosen to live. Five or 6 months in to the school year I received belatedly a notice stating that because I failed to appear at the hearing where the right to these benefits was being appealed, that I had forfeited the case. Eight years later, I am done with school and wonder how to best approach the resolution of this situation, what recourse do I have and what kind of resources might I seek out? how do I deal with this bureacratic mess that has mushroomed? Appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you
