Hello, I live in Alabama. I recently bought a new home and moved in. My husband and son have dogs. We put up a kennel in the back yard, had concrete poured and it is very neat and clean. We have a neighbor, actually she lives catty corner to the back yard of our house. She has called the police and the animal control officers to complain about the dogs barking. My husband puts collars on them at night to keep them from barking. Two days ago her husband came and talked to my husband about us moving our kennels. My husband told him we would not move the kennels. The neighbor said that his wife had 3 problems with our kennels. #1 was that they looked out thier window and could see our kennels.#2 was that it was cruel for us to keep them in kennels.#3 was that our dogs barked during the day when his wife was at home and it bothered her. Last night she came to my door (my husband was out of town)threaten me that she would make me as miserable as she was. Lots of other threats, cursing and even screamed at my son to get in his room. I asked her to leave several times she refused. I called 911 the police came and I don't know what was said to her. They told me that the dogs were bothering her I should consider getting rid of them. That she would probable file a civil claim or suit against me. I said that was fine just for her not to come back to my house. The officer said he would tell her not to come back over here if she did she would be trespassing and I could press charges. Now I have called several fence co. to get a privacy fence put up. I am just wondering if this is going to shut her up or should we wait to see if she files a civil claim and if she does what can she do to us? Should I go ahead and contact an attorney? Or just wait and see? This lady is really weird about this we have tried to work it out with no results, I don't want my husband to go and talk to them because I'm afraid they will have him put in jail or something.
