What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?North Carolina

I purchased a 2000 model Oldsmobile Alero in 2000. Since it was a program car I asked if it had been wrecked and was told "no". A few weeks after buying the automobile I received a notice from the dealer that stated the car had not been in a wreck totaling more than 25% of it's value in damage and had not been in a flood. About a year later I began having problems with it and took it to the local Olds dealer for servicing. I was told it had been in a real bad wreck. Also, the 6 cylander I bought turned out to be a 4 cylander. I know the statute of limitation is probably over, but could I have done anything about this? Thank you.

You may not want to check the rest of there replies your gonna get I suspect there gonna be fairly rude.

I’m assuming you bough the car as is, so the answer to your question is no you couldn’t have done thing other then research your purchase better.

A lot of people do not understand what CarFax does.... or more importantly, does NOT do. For example, it does NOT report EVERY accident or loss to the vehicle.

The CARFAX Buyback Guarantee protects you from major problems (total loss, accidents, fire, flood damage, odometer problems or lemon history) that were reported by a DMV and not included in the CARFAX Report. This coverage lasts one year and is transferable.

If you signed up for it. If it wasnt reported to the DMV then carfax wouldnt have it on file and the dealer proibly wouldnt be obligated to tell you about it as they may not know eather.

And as noted in the original post, this vehicle was a 'program' vehicle, maintained by the dealer. As such, there would never be a 'report' filed on the accident that was presumably repaired by the dealership itself..... ergo, no CarFax report.
