Hi LadyNRed. The last time we wrote, I was in the midst of attempting to correct a listed collection on my credit report (see posting on 8-25-03). I now have an update and require some of your excellent advice. I wrote a letter to NCO advising that I was intending to sue for inaccurate reporting and demanded that they correct the matter with all 3 CRA's and also requested a letter of release for the debt. Low and behold, I got a check in the mail for $99. from NCO, and nothing else! No letter of release, no explaination, not even a brief letter of apology for their mistake, NOTHING! I feel as though I'm being set up if I cash it, and in my several attempts to get any information from NCO no one has any idea what the h_ll is going on. What do you think of this? Should I cash it, or will there be repercusions? Please advise.
