My response:

URESA (Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act (URESA)
was repealed in 1998; i.e., it is no longer the law.

As required by federal law (42 USCA § 666(f)), California has adopted the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA, Ca Fam § 4900 et seq.). The UIFSA governs the establishment, enforcement and modification of child and spousal support orders in interstate cases and replaces URESA (repealed eff. 1/1/98).

Together with the Federal Full Faith and Credit for Child Support Orders Act (FFCCSOA, 28 USCA § 1738B), the UIFSA ensures that only one state will have jurisdiction over support at any given point in time. Toward that end, these Acts fix the exclusive jurisdictional situs for support adjudications; and require sister states to recognize and enforce support orders rendered by a court of competent jurisdiction under the Acts. [28 USCA § 1738B(a); Ca Fam §§ 4911, 4952(c); see also Ca Fam § 4975--UIFSA "shall be applied and construed to effectuate its general purpose to make uniform the law with respect to (its) subject . . . among states enacting it" (parentheses added)]

My response:

You don't. URESA was "Federal Law", and like I said, it was repealed.

As to what you can do, you would contact a Family Law attorney in your neck of the woods to find out what Federal Laws Florida has adopted in this regard.
