What is the name of your state? PA
I work in a hospital system in Trenton, NJ. It's been a year since I've been on here. For those who remember me, hello, not too much has changed. I want to know if I am entitled to utilize benefits provided to me by my employer without punishment? I submit annually signed papers from my physician for an intermittent fmloa. I do this for my own protection. I am not an abuser, no lie, I utilized 3 sick days all year, and two mornings was late because I called in sick but did not want to waste the days. I was instructed to do this by my bosses. Now, I am being told to report to the corporate health center to be examined by a house physician so they can investigate my condition and submission of fmloa papers. The rationale for this is because I have maintained doing this for a few years (since they offered it). I do not want to report for this appointment. I do not consent to being investigated, and I feel I am being punished for following the rules. Please advise.
Maybe I am presenting this in the wrong way as I would like some feedback. Allthough I am aware of what a fmloa is for and how it works, I am not necessarily aware of all the "fne print" in the laws. I only know what I've been told to work with. What exactly are the unmentioned laws of a fmloa? I know it is federal. Am I entitled to apply for intermittent leave? I am told that the "reasons" are supposed to be confidential, however, that is not maintained very well. I have worked at the place for almost 19 years and those who I work with, of course, know me.
I do not have a pleasant work environment. I have a bad relationship with my immediate superiors if anyone recalls my story. For some reason now, after submitting this fmloa paperwork each year as instructed, I am suddenly under "investigation." Something here does not sound right to me. Confidentiality is only one issue.
Please, I would like some feedback. Am I protected in any way?
