I'm a musical composer looking to get into the video game industry. Currently, I'm putting together a demo reel of my music to be sent to gaming companies. My plan is to find games that are legally available for free online (such as tech demos or high quality flash games), remove whatever music is there, and insert my own music. Proper acknowledgments to the games' owners or creators would of course be given, and I would make it clear that I am not affiliated with them. Is this legal, or do I need to seek permission from the games' owners before using them in a demo reel?

Thanks in advance!
