"I know is some states you can vacate judgments."
*** That is only applicable where you challenge the issuance of the judgment.
"I have a paid in full judgment from a credit card. Can I go to the court house, file papers, and have this judgment vacated so it won't appear on my credit report any more?"
*** Yes.... and no.
Send the judgment creditor a polite and professional letter (certified RRR) requesting that they send you a signed 'Satisfaction of Judgment' form. Include copies of your receipts showing payment in full. Give them a reasonable time to respond. If they don't, then go to the issuing court, show them your evidence of payment and they can issue a 'court issued' satisfaction of judgment. Once all this is done and you have the form in hand, send a copy to the CRA (Credit Reporting Agency) and ask them to investigate and 'correct' your report (as provided by the FCRA - Fair Credit Reporting Act). They cannot remove the judgment from your history, but will note that it has been paid.
