Vacation Time Accrued

I worked for 1/2 year for this company and had built up a couple days vacation time. I left the job because the owner was a jerk. Now he says he will not pay me for the vacation hours i had built up. Is this legal? the hours showed up on my pay check each week as they accrued. He said he only pays after 1 year's employment. So all time already built up doesn't count. This seems unfair but is it illegal?

If there is a written policy that says they only vest after a year he'd prpbably be right, but I doubt there was. Ask the State Labor Department to help you collect back pay you are owed.
