What is the best way to estimate the value of a US patent?

I own a patent that was issued by the USPTO in 2003. I'm attempting to raise funds to license the patent and I need to estimate its value. Thank you.

There isn't any "best way." Such an estimate will depend on the competitive marketplace for the technology in question, how broad the patent is, how enforceable the patent is, what other patents are out there, can the patent be easily designed around, etc. You might want to read here for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_property, maybe try out this book (or a similar book): http://www.amazon.com/Valuation-Intellectual-Property-Intangible-Assets/dp/0471362816, or maybe talk to these guys or a similar company: http://www.perceptionpartners.com/valuation.html?gclid=CKqTi__I5o0CFQkpYAodGkG_Cg.
