I have been told, that in Viriginia we cannot use a facilitator, that our adoption must be finalized in VA, and that we cannot pay anyone to advertise for a birthmother for us UNLESS it goes through an attorney. A facilitator, in CA - who is in the process of becoming a licensed agency (which would be legal under VA law - apparently) said that we can finalize in the state that the birthmother is from...my husband is currently an AK resident, I'm a VA resident - does that make a difference - can we adopt under AK laws?
