Hi, im new and helping a friend .. She met a guy online on facebook they got to know each other few months then had an online relationship .. Her boyfriend is from merida ,yut mexico he at least i felt he was scamming her to send money which she did to help him get his visa so they can be together.. He told her he has a friend who works in the legal department of some sort and help him get his visa faster.. But he needed more money . so she believe him and sent more...so far she sent i think $3000 bit more ... Now my questions are : 1. What r the steps to get visa from mexico to chicago?..2. If his friend is helping him could that be against the law at mexico?..3. If he scam her, how can she get her money back from him? Hes in mexico and shes in chicago btw she is suffering from cancer and isnt allow to travel.. Please i wanna help her bad .. Plus he owes her money alot more and he block her from facebook and looks like he changed his number too.. Please help my friend

Unless he has significant ties to Mexico, he is unlikely to get a visa to visit. As they do not have significant ties and immigration realizes these online relationships are usually not valid, they are not likely to grant a fiance visa unless the lawyer lies. She is being taken for a citizenship ride during a weak point in her life when she is open to exploitation..

She's just learned a rather expensive lesson, unfortunately.

If he can't get a visa by himself, then no amount of money would help him do so.

If he needs to get a visa through her - such as a fiancee or spouse visa - the process is far more involved than Person A sending Person B some money.

Ask someone familiar with Mexican law.

Or, do the sensible thing and let this non-problem stay that way.
