What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA
I don't know if this is the right place for this post, but I couldn't find anything better.
My friend has been a volunteer at a thrift shop for probably 19 years now and won numerous awards for it. Recently the ex-manager of this shop opened her own show and now my friend is helping at this shop too, which happens to be within 1 mile from the other shop. The thrift shop has notified my friend that there is a conflict of interest and that they need to have a meeting about this.
My friend has in the past volunteered for other thrift shops and it was never an issue...
Can they ban her from working in their shop because of this? She is mad because she's been awarded thousands of hours awards and they are just being petty because they think the new consignment shop is taking their business away?
Also the one is owned by the major hospital, they don't offer their volunteers any insurance if they get injured inside the building. Is that legal? One lady fell out the window when she was decorating it and hurt her leg really bad and they said basically .. sorry, we aren't responsible.

They also file for I believe state money with all the volunteers they have... Any advice would be appreciated.

My friend is not going to sit back and let them tell her she can't volunteer wherever she wants to without a fight!
Thanks!

If your "friend" was so determined to make a fight of it, she would have posted, not you. So give it up. You're the "friend."
