What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL

I started working for company X in June 2007. The terms of my employment were detailed in an email sent to me by the owner. The terms included specifics about salary and other perks.

In December 2007, the owner told me she could no longer pay me the amount agreed to in the email. She wanted to reduce my salary by 25%. I told her I would defer it until the company got back on track.

In December 2008 the company laid me off. No severance, no nothing. The owner will not acknowledge my claim to the deferred salary. How can I go about collecting the money owed to me?

If the company did not agree to the "deferred" plan IN WRITING, you have no chance of ever getting it.
