I was a birthmother living in ny at the time i gave my son up for adoption. I got to meet the adoptive parents several times. The adoption was always refered to as open and there was a verbal agreement between us that i was allowed to request pictures of my son at anytime. This was to be done by contacting there lawyer. All was fine up until last year when my request was denied because the lawyer's office said the couldn't locate the adoptive parents and they hadn't heard from them since the time of the adoption. That's funny because i have pictures of my son up until he was 8 years old. The verbal agreement was that we would at all times keep the lawyers office informed of our address because of possible health reasons. What can i do? All i want is some pictures. Does a verbal agreement mean nothing. The adoption took place in Maryland where they lived.
