What is the name of your state? My ex lives in Nevada and has full physical custody of our kids. I have visitation 6 weeks summer, 1 week Christmas, 1 week Spring break. I want to take the kids to Mexico for Spring break. My folks live there in the winter. It's only for 5 days. Ex says "no way". Can he stipulate that?

Does your order have anything written about vacations ?
Generally , you can take children on vacations during your time .

visitation rights, cont.

My visitation rights, as mentioned previously, are court ordered. I'm wondering if because Mexico is out of the country, if he has the right to intervene here.

Well, it could certainly be an issue. Generally, both parents need to agree for one to take the children out of the country - if the authorities ask, you'll have a problem. If he won't give his consent, your other option is to get a court order allowing you to go to Mexico for vacation with the children.

I am in SC - my husband got custody of his 2 young children this past April. His ex-wife gets visitation and is order to let him know where the visitation will take place. This is because the mother lies about everything and we were scared she would have the kids in places that we would not be able to get to them if the need arose. There was no provision in the court order about visitation outside of the state or the country. Just that she has to let him know where and with whom if not her.

Since you only asked one question, the answer is yes, he can stipulate that. Whether or not it rises to the level of contempt is another matter.

File for an amendment to the original order stipulating that you may take the children to Mexico during the five or so days. A judge may or may not grant it.
