I live in Coneecticut ....I have two beautiful granddaughter's both with 2 different fathers...My ex son is law is the one causing all the problems....On a Sunday night he arrived at my daughters house with a police officer to return his daughter but the thing is he had my daughters permission to have her over night....she called me to let me know earlier that evening...well he filed a report with the police department stating that he was trying to return her home and nobody was there so he inturn made a false statement...so he went to the station and made a report about it...we didn't know this until we got all the police reports on him as my daughter called for them..noone called and asked my daughter about this at all...he always said he was going to get her and he did...now he has this report and has taken it to DCYS to try to get custody of his daughter...it's been a long battle with him and he is and has been abusive to everyone around him we do have reports on that....what can she do.....thank you for listening

My response:

Your subject asks "what can grandparents do?" and then you ask, in your post, "what can she (your daughter) do?".

First, there's nothing you, as the grandparent can do. But, I think you already knew that. As a grandparent, all you can really do is stand back, watch the fur fly, and hope for the best.

I need to know if there are court ordered visitation and custody orders. Also, I need to know both his, and her, criminal history. Additionally, how many times has he complained to Child Services, and what actions they have taken in the past.

I have sat back and watched alot as a grandparent....my concern is for my daughter......he and his family has called DCYS several times on my daughter with no results they have been to her house many times....he has stalked her several times before her second marriage with no one doing a thing...he did hit her and was arrested for it..he has called her swearing and yelling at her whilr her daughter was over to his house...he does have a history of violence and abuse as it's in all the reports even with his own parents..alot stems from his new girlfriend...yes she is nice and good to my granddaughter but she is alot of problems saying that she is a better parent than my daughter..she has told my daughters ex that if you want to me with me than you will do as I say.....they also have another child together but no they are not married as she is not ready to marry him...my dranddaughter wants for noting with her father and his girlfriend....she is 6 years old and has more than a 13 year old does at his house..my daughter is trying to teach her values and how to earn things and he is always telling her that he will by her the things that she wants because he loves her and not her Mother..it is and will be a conflict in their lives......it's to bad because it's the child that gets hurt thru all of this......thank you......
