What is the name of your state? AZ
I have an ex-boyfriend from over 2 years ago who is harassing me. I don't know what to do. He calls my home phone (20 to 30 times a day) so I block his number. He then gets a new number and starts all over again. I've changed my cell phone number 3 times. He leaves me messages that are threatening. Recently he started calling my work several times a day. I am worried about losing my job over this. He has also been leaving me notes on my car at work. I recently learned that he used my info to get the electric turned on in my name at his last apartment. He was evicted and left without paying the final bill. Do I call the police first or do I file a request for an order of protection from the court first? He was arrested for domestic violence while we were dating because he pushed me . I was just trying to gather my things and get out of there when that happened. He says he blames me for all the trouble he has had since then. I don't talk to him and I try not to show any reaction to anything he is doing because I don't what to add fuel to the fire.
I am beginning to get very scared. Any advice on the best way to handle this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. What is the name of your state?

Talk to the police and Court about a restraining order .

Also , ask about stalking laws .

You might want to talk to the DA's Office .

Just to add to BL's advice...

You want to save all notes, voice mails and phone logs to document his behavior.

Thanks to both of you. I have been saving everything. My phone has a fax attached and it prints out a list of all calls everyday. I also have the notes. I do need to start keeping a calendar of when everything takes place.
Thanks again.

Take everything you have to the police dept and see what they recommend...You will be able, at the very least, to get a RO. Good luck and stay safe!

First, you need to go to the court that is close to you and fill out the paperwork for a
Injunction against harassment. More than likely, you will be able to see a Judge at that time. Or the Judge may set a date for the both of you to tell your sides. In many event when you do go to court be prepared to speak to the Judge and tell him everything, especially what has been going on lately.

On the paperwork, you can specify that you do not want any contact at your home, office, etc and you can also specify how, cannot contact you by telephone, fax, person, etc.

Once you do get the Injunction against harassment you need to call the police department
that is closest to where you know he is and call the police somewhere within a 1 mile from where you know he is. The Police will come out you give them 1 of the set of documents that you received and the police officers probably will ask you some questions. Then you need to wait for the officers to return to let you know if it was served or not.

The Injunction against harassment is not in effect until it is served. Once it is served, it is good for 1 year from the date it was served. Make sure that you write down the officers name and badge number the date and time it was served and most important, make a copy of the paperwork and KEEP IT WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES. That way if he approches you or violates the injunction you can show the police officers that you in fact have the injunction and he goes bye-bye, hopefully.

Also, write down or keep a log of all the calls he does and at what time and what is said.
Better yet get yourself a little tape recorder and tape it. Nothing is better.
And if you find that there is a pattern of phone calls or he drives by all the time, etc after he received the injunction against harassment, call the police department and tell them and they will take a report. Once you have several reports, they go to a detective and he takes it from there. Hopefully, goes and arrests him.

Good luck, be safe, and please let me know how everything turns out....

You may also want to find out how he is getting your cell phone number. It's POSSIBLE that he is getting the information on his own, but it is much more likely that someone you know is giving it to him.
