Can anyone tell me if the NCP who signs a consent form to an adoption relinquishing their rights will still lose their rights if the CP and the SP decide not to go thru with the adoption?!

Or, does everything remain the same as before if the adoption is not completed (with the NCP still having parental rights regardless of their signature on the consent form)?! For the state of SD.

TIA

Look in you states statutes..

Look up the SD state statutes to see what needs to be done. It will tell you waht the state views as how to proceed. Everything is as it was before everything changed. Same rights and responsibilities. The reason for this is a child needs 2 parents. Why when one does not give a rats is beyond me. Purely political and i might add out dated.
That would be my first reseach assignment.
