What is the name of your state?CA

Someone rear ended me and is at fault. The problem is I only have their name and liscense plate number. The dirtbag gave me a fake phone number. Is this enough information for my insurance company to find out if they have insurance or not and to locate them? At the very least I hope the DMV can help me. Thanks.

My response:

Yes, and it's also enough information for your attorney, too.
