My wife and I have been married for three years, but seperated for about two and one-half years. Our divorce hearing is this weak and she is suddenly asking for maintenance. I ahve already offered to pay over $300/month for my daughter, gave her full custody, and offered to provide medical insurance for our daughter until age 18.
Anyway, my question is this: Can she still recieve maintecance even though she chooses not to work and is supported by her parents? I realize that the fact that she has moderate health problems could work against me, but she has addmitted that she is able to work. We are both 23 years old (I'm not sure if that matters). And I am an E-5 in the Army.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Because of the short notice of te final hearing, I am unable to retain a lawyer.

Thank You:confused:

If your daughter is young, which I assume regarding your age she is, who is going to raise her while Mom is working ? Important question to ask. Age IS important for both of you, because it increases the possibilties of your wife supporting herself vs paying spousal support from you. Of course you`ll both alwaysbe responsible for your child`s needs. Forget about paying alimony unless your well off. Good luck
