I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to find in the "family Code" or state statutes - live in Texas - what definition the judges/law use for FAMILY. Not the standard 1 man, 1 woman and 2.5 kids....

I would assume that FAMILY refers to the close individuals that supply love, affection, etc to one another to provide and a feeling of comfort and safety.

Any help available here???

Thanks!

I would think it might vary, depending on the context in which the word "family" is being used.

My response:

. . . as in, "We are family (I got all my sisters with me)" by Sister Sledge. In that song, she's singing about the world as a "family".
