What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?california

I recently moved to la and was looking for an apartment. I went to view one and the leasing consultant says to me "I get the impression that you're a little wild". I said,"What do you mean by that?" He said that I seem loud and he doesn't want any undesirables to be in and out". I am 27 with 2 college degrees and has traveled the world and dealt with many different people. I have a steady job and stable lifestyle. When I arrived I had on jeans and a tank top with no makeup...nothing out of the ordinary. He also told me that I was supposed to "stand there and take it" Isn't this discrimination? how dare he have the right to say that to me. I then asked for the owners name and number so I could contact him to file a complaint. What rights do I have really in a case like this? He was ignorant and his predjudice   unconstitutional.

Explain why you feel what he said was "unconstitutional." He may have been making a snap judgement, but you haven't said anything that leads me to believe that it was racially or religiously etc. motivated. Did he make an actual derogatory remark based on religion, race, sexual orientation or anything of that nature or did he just say that you seemed "wild"?

Okay ... he thinks you are wild. No crime and no civil tort. If he failed to rent you the place because you fell within a protected clas, then you might have a case. But, if he said he felt that you might be "wild" or otherwise unsuitable, the burden would be largely upon you to show that he failed to rent to you because you fell under a protected class.

If he's an ass, then don't rent the place. The law does not provide that you are able to go through life being unoffended.
