What to do my wife was cut by a sensor at a department store

My wife was out shopping for jeans for a night out on the town and went to a store and was trying on jeans apparently the jeans have a sensor on them the sensor was not properly placed on the jeans and it left her with a cut 7 inches long on her left calve she said she thought that it was the price tag plastic that has scratched her and she couldn't see the sensor just yet and then she felt something on her thigh when she was pulling on the pants and then the sensor fell out of the jeans. The sensor on the jeans is about and inch long and a very sharp point she has a cut on her calve and a cut on her thigh. She told the dressing room attendant who told her to talk to the manager so she went up to the front and talked to the manager. The manager didn't have a first aide kit it took her 15 minutes or so to look to see if she did. The manager did find peroxide and my wife cleaned the cut. It was bleeding and the cut looks like its going to scar. What do we do? The store was neglected to place the sensor on the jeans and now my wife will have the scars on her for forever and the cut is big. The manager and my wife wrote on a piece of paper about the incident and the manager took a picture of the cut. Today my wife called and asked if she could have a copy of the report that was taken by the manager and she said that she would not be able to give her a copy and she would need to to back to the store monday and call their corporate and have them record what happened.

What are our rights and what should we do? Would it be possible to sue?

What are your out of pocket expenses? Did she go to the Doctor? Did the Doctor tell her it would scar? How long did the cut bleed? Did the cut require stitches?

She has an appointment to see a dermatologist

My wife has been letting the cut heal. No it didn't need stiches it was not deep enough for that. My wife scars really easy. It happened Saturday night. She cleaned the cut on her leg at the store that night and then when she got home she cleaned the one on her thigh and we took pictures. The one on the front of her leg does not look like its will scar but the one on her thigh looks like it will she received a call from the third party insurance on Tuesday asking if my wife had sought any medical attention she let them know that she had been treating it at home but that it looked like it was going to scar they said they needed to have medical documentation that says that it will scar so we made an appointment with a dermatologist to confirm and also to have it look at it because the one on her thigh is still red where she was cut and all around it. They said they would reimurse my wife for her appointment and after the appointment we can send them documentation and they will take care of it...supposedly. What does this mean? We didn't seek immediate medical attention because the cut was not deep and we figured she didn't need stiches. So now what?...The waiting game?

Sounds like the doctors visit is overkill, the scratch will heal just fine on its own and you have no damages to sue anyone for.
