What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Vermont

A potential employer and I are baffled.

I applied 2 weeks ago, and the check was suppose to be back in 4 days, took almost 2 weeks. She said it flagged me, which I said was impossible, because I literally do not have a single, solitary mark of ANYTHING on my record.

I went back in, and did the forms again, and it came back negative AGAIN! She wanted me to start work this week, and her boss won't let her hire me because of an obvious mess-up. Never been arrested, never been pulled over, never even had a detention!

What in the world do I do?

Usually, when a background check for employment is performed, the company that provides the service will give you an option to request that a copy of said report be provided to you by the company for your records. I know that with the several that I have had done on me, they were given to me free of charge, but I'm not sure whether or not that is the exception or the norm.

If there is negative information on that report, then the background check provider is getting that information from somewhere. Get your copy, look it over to find out what portion of the report is incorrect, and find out where the background check provider obtained this information.
