I posted a week ago about my kids being at their mom's for vistation and witnessed some disturbing behavior.

LAst visit at 4:00 a.m. my kids were at their mother's for visitation and a fight broke out between a young lady and her boyfreind. The man hit the lady in the head with a glass bottle, and a piece of glass cut my son's foot, not bad though. They continued to fight while my kids 5, and 6 years old watched them. Their mother joined in the fight too. The young lady's father came in and stabbed the man in the neck with a knife, while my kids continued watch. By this time, the young man has mananged to lock their mother out of the home and my kids are alone in the house with these people.

The police were called. My kids say that the young man's neck was hanging off when they arrived. I sent the police report to my attorney. He said that I COULD ask for visitation to be suspended, but there are no guarantees because the report was filed by the young lady and their mother is only listed as a witness. And the participants were out of town guests.

I mentioned to him that fights like this are not uncommon with her. I know of several instances were the police were called for domestic disputes in her home between her and her boyfriends, or family, and freinds. I KNOW of at least 3. But he says that since we went back to court in June, it has to be something that has happened since June. Although none of that was brought up during the last hearing in June.
Since all this happened my son has been acting out a lot more at school.

Also my ex's car is no longer "working" because she left my kids in the car and my 5 year old put the car into drive and the car rolled down a hill into something, not sure what. But my kids could have been killed. These are all things that she told them not to tell me.

My attorney says that I could wait until the next time she does something and bring all of it in and have a better cahnge of getting something done. What would you do?

I am sorry but I don't think I would wait for something else to happen. The something else could be disasterous and result in something that is very injurious to your children.

I would wonder why the children were up at 4:00 am. Why the mother jumped into the fight rather than removing the children from the situation.

I guess I could understand that the mother couldn't help her out of town guests from getting in the fight, but for her to not look out for the kids! That would concern me. .. especially since you say domestic fights such as this aren't infrequent.

I wouldn't wait. My children's safety would come first.

I hope you are documenting all of this!

Good luck!

?WAIT!?

WAit? What is he kidding? If it were me...and it isn't... this is only my opinion. I'd file for an emergency petition for custody. Bottom Line...no ?'s asked. Who knows what the "next time" might bring. You may not even have your children anymore. She has put your childrens lives in jeopardy one too many times if you ask me.
Your children could have rolled the car out into the street and been hit by another vehicle. Furthermore, they were obviously unsupervised since they were PLAYING in the car. These people (out of town guests) were probably drunk...what kind of influence is that on your children? I can't believe your son/daughter saw a man stab a man in the neck with a knife. HELLO!??!?! I think this may be justifiable cause for filing an emergency petition for custody.

I just wondered if I were overreacting or what. Someone told me well the kids should "know better than to stand there and watch, they could have called 911". But my kids are so small. They barely know our home phone number. My son is already is counseling from all the trauma she has exposed them to. I got full custody of my kids in June. I have had temp. custody of them since Nov. when she shot herself in the ARM! (add that to the list of violent acts)

I can not say that she does not care about our kids but my wife shows them more love than their own mother does. She has not given me anything since Nov. And as much as I dislike her, she is still their mother. Her oldest child, now 10, was also taken by her parents and they barely allow her to see the child. My kids need to know their parent but I want supervised visits. But who will have to supervise. The superviser that she had last go round has refused to do it because they have since figured out her lies and games, and this is HER cousin!

So are you saying that I can use the other incidents in her home? We never presented this to the judge. The guardian told her attorney that there was no way that she would get those kids back so she just settled. Thanks for your advice.

My response:

Oh, c'mon!

Of course you're overreacting to this.

Everyone knows that there's nothing healthier for children to see than their own mother involved in a good free-for-all brawl !

Hey, it's better than watching the WWF on T.V., wouldn't you agree?

I don't know...you may be a little unreasonable...

If you really think about it.... she might not be all that bad, you know she did shoot herself instead of one of the kids...
ya gotta give her that...that was pretty cool of her.

Yeah, ya know, if I were you I'd just wait it out.

My response:

I'm using levity with this writer to make a point.

After reading his initial post, and the situation, he's actually coming back with questions, and is unsure about the health and welfare of his children.

It's so incredibly sad, it's laughable.

It's 2X4 time, right between the eyes.

I DO NOT think it is funny

I am going by the advice of my lawyer to wait. If my kids had been with her, who knows she may have shot them too. This person has a mental illness which is also not funny. I was unfortunate enough to have been married to her and know first hand that she is looney. Her freinds and family did not know how psycho she was either until she lived with them. I do not see how you can say that this is laughable when these kids could be in danger, no I do not thikn she would do anything to hurt them, but I never thought she would do something to hurt herself either. I am going by the advice of my attorney to wait. But these are not his kids either.

I was honestly waiting to read that she is sleeping with the cousin, while the children are napping on the floor.
