We've had custody of my husband's son for the last 6 years. He graduated from high school this summer, but didn't turn 18 until a couple of weeks ago. Since June he's lived with his mom & grandma since graduation, his mom wants child support for those few weeks.
What would you do and if you would pay, how would you calculate?

dad is not obligated to pay her anything unless a court orders him to do so, if dad is feeling generous and WANTS to, then maybe the same amount that she had been paying to him previously- whatever he decides the court isn't likely to make him pay anything at this point

She never paid us anything and we never asked her to help out with any extras. She's kind of being a b*tch about it because she's pissed off at us right now.

Tell her no. Suggest she "deduct it" from the child support she didn't pay dad.

Umm, dad DID have LEGAL custody these past six years, right? Mom's child support order was stopped through the court?

Yes, we had legal custody. We never asked for child support because dad didn't want to add stress to an already stressful situation.

I agree, have your husband to tell her to take him to court. The judge most likely will laugh at her and get mad for wasting his/her time when the judge sees that your husband has solely supported the son for 6yrs compared to her 6wks...your right, she's just being a b***ch. He's 18 now...I think it's too late anyways.
