What is the name of your state? Texas
My son age 13 got in-school-suspension for 10 days for flipping off a teacher (behind her back as he was leaving the room.) Another teacher in the hallway saw him and reported it. He was upset with her because she wasn't following his IEP plan and she asked him to leave the classroom even though he wasn't being disrespectful (she admits this.) ANYWAY, he has ADD and emotional difficulties. They never even told us that he was being suspended and when he went to school the next day they yelled at him for not showing up for suspension! I went to the school to complain and the next day they said they would cut his suspension to 5 days for flipping the bird. Now, mind you, this was not done to her face but as he was leaving the room and out in the hallway.
What would your school do or is there a certain guideline for this? I thought even 5 days was excessive for this. A kid stabbed another kid in the stomach with a pencil and didn't even get that long! Just curious to see your responses.
