What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia - I was hoping someone who is familiar with Dekalb County court could tell me what the "normal" procedure is,if any, for a third time misd. shoplifting charge would be. I'm aware of the possibility of serving time, but for how long should I expect to be facing? Also, is it possible to have prosecutor have judge to maybe exchange a jail term for possibly more fines, or community service? If not, then is it possible to have the time, postponed for a later date? I have a pending surgery and also a small child I need to prepare to have someone care for. Will they give me time to get my affairs in order? Someone, pease tell me!!!! My court day is this Weds.!!!! Thanks for any advice!!!!!What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Way too specific to even hope for such a person on a NATIONAL forum.

All of your questions should be addressed to your attorney. He/she is far more likely to have knowledge of your case and the local courts than anyone on this NATIONAL forum.
However, I can give the following GENERAL information. Third time shoplifting is NOT petty and there is a good chance that the prosecutor/court will NOT grant you any favors. Take a toothbrush when you go to court.
