What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FLORIDA

I thought it would not happen, but apparently old foreclosures and creditors think I must have great potential or am about to hit the lottery. I have recently been served by a 2nd HELOC Mortgage creditor for $180,000, an HOA for $4,000, have a judgment already in the books for $13,000 and who knows what else is looming (as the primary mortgage could technically file as well and the credit cards I defaulted on / closed from that time period may come after me, too.

I am low-income (hardship) and I do not foresee a time where these judgments would NOT put further stress and hardship on me. There is no way I can dig myself of that amount of money without a miracle.

Over the past 7 year since my foreclosure, i have done an excellent job and reestablishing my credit and have several credit cards, in good standing, with good available credit and little use (15% or less of available credit use).

My question: if I file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, do I lose these credit cards / my current credit cards in good standing??? If so, is there any way to keep them???

Keep in mind that I have no assets, no property (I rent), and one car which i use in my self-employment that is valued at $1800 or less.

Thank you.

Jan0004, please post all of your bankruptcy-related questions in this thread. There is not only no need to create several different threads, your other threads will be deleted. Thanks.

To find an attorney in your area, you can visit the Florida Bar Association website. You can then interview several different attorneys before settling on one that you believe can best represent your interests. I recommend you see an attorney who specializes in bankruptcy matters.

Florida Bar Association: http://www.flabar.org/

The rest of your questions will be addressed by those on this forum who are more familiar with bankruptcy law.

Good luck.

Additional Question: How do I find a good Bankruptcy Attorney? (Chapter 7)

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FLORIDA

Seriously considering Chapter 7 as it seems unavoidable. How can I find a good Bankruptcy Attorney (Chapter 7) in my Local area? Are there websites and/or organizations that list reviews, actual records and records of attorney fees?

Also, how much should i expect to pay for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy?

I'm also low-income / hardship, so are there any organizations that offer good attorneys that offer discounted fees? Even if I find some, should I even consider these low-income discount attorneys or are "regular" attorneys always preferable? (I would have to get a loan or gift from a relative for the attorney fee).

Thank you for your answers.

Here are links to some information on Chapter 7 Bankruptcy for you to review, Jan0004 - the first link is to the US Courts on Bankruptcy Basics, and the second link is Florida-specific, a consumer pamphlet on consumer bankruptcy in Florida.

You apparently have been contemplating bankruptcy for some time, judging by your posting history on this forum. You can use the Florida Bar Association link I provided earlier to locate an attorney in your area who might offer low-cost bankruptcy assistance or you can call several different bankruptcy attorneys to compare and contrast their rates.

Good luck.
