Who has Legal Custody?

I live in California.....I need to find out who to contact in Massachusetts to find out who has legal custody of my daughter....her dad was found in neglect and temporary was given to his mom....I need to find out who to sue for full custody, as well as have the child support go to the right person in the mean time!

Did you have a court order of custody and how was it arranged? This would be your start.....order in place/no order ever...state statutes can give you info establishing custody & changing custody.

Originally it was her dad. But due to numerous calls to Department of Social Services by His sister and my daughter's teachers, he and his girlfriend were investigated and found in neglect. I have no copies of orders, only know through his sister that this happened, and that his mom was granted temporary custody of both of their kids. Mom got tired of taking care of them, and sent them back. I don't know if the temporary order was suspended or not, and if the case is still open. Do I contact Mass. Dept of Social Services?

Boy, that sounds like a great Grandma!!!! She simply got tired of taking care of them and sent her grandchildren back to a home where she knew they were neglected.. HUM.....

I know....she thinks it will make her son grow up....I just want to be pointed in the right direction so I can DO something....we are across the country from eachother and filing anything or finding out anything is really hard....
