What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Hello,

I am trying to serve Citibank in California with no success, for the purpose of a small claims court. I can't find their Agent for Service in California.

The CA Secretary of State website says: CT Corporation, but they already replied to be that they do not have Citibank registered with them..

I also called Citibank "Executive Services" and got a reply from them - in writing by email from them - that they do not have a legal representation in California. This information must be not true because they do business in California and thus MUST have by the law a legal representation in CA.

Very confusing and frustrating... can some assist please?

Thanks,
Talmor

There are 9 of them under Citigroup that are active. I'd suggest you contact the California Department of Business Oversight and ask them which entity you were doing business with. Their number is Consumer Services
Toll-free (866) 275-2677 or (916) 327-7585

I'm calling them now, thank you.

But I can see only 3 of them under the jurisdiction of California:

C0902516 11/06/1978 FTB SUSPENDED CITIGROUP, A CALIFORNIA CORPORATION CALIFORNIA ALLAN R SCHARTON
C2479220 12/19/2002 DISSOLVED MEANINGFUL ASSETS: THE CITIGROUP PRIVATE BANK GLOBAL PHILANTHROPY PARTNERSHIP CALIFORNIA KAREN DEMERS
C2908257 12/18/2006 FTB SUSPENDED THE CENTURY CITIGROUP, INC. CALIFORNIA G K H LUM

You can be assured that if you effect service of process upon a "general manager" of any local branch, the corporate entity will pop out of the woodwork and duly respond.

See: California Code of Civil Procedure Section 416.10 (b) noting that it does not read "THE general manager" it reads "A GENERAL MANAGER".

If there was an agreement signed between Talmor and Citibank, the agreement generally spells out what to do and who to serve in the event of a legal dispute.

But directly serving the bank involved can be an easy option.
