What is the name of your state? TEXAS

my dad became incapacitated recently and gave me power of attorney. i had to admit him to a nursing home for a short time and paid the bill with his money. however, he got mad at me and stopped the check.

can i be forced to pay the bill out of my pocket or is he libel for the bill? i signed the admitting and discharge papers.

My response:

He's the one on the hook, not you. Did your Dufus father think someone was going to house him for free?

welllllll...without going into all the family politics, my sister convinced him that i put him in there when he didn't have to go. he is suffering from dementia [or alzheimer's or senility, whatever you want to call it]. he was in the hospital and couldn't go home alone so i put him in the nursing home for about three weeks for therapeutic aftercare [the results of which, i might add were remarkable] while she got her act together to point that she could care for him. meanwhile she decided he shouldn't have been there in the first place and talked the old man into stopping the check...
