30 years old, married 12 years wife wants divorce. we have 3 kids planning divorce with 50/50 joint custody. wife worked 6.5 years, educated 2 years, liscenced emt, and for the last 2 years have done foster care. she wants alimony so that she can go to school for 4 years to become physican assistant. she does not want to work at all and says that i owe her an education. i have no education and make 44,000 per year. i believe that she should have to get a job and support herself. i can understand a small alimony amount, i guess. any thoughts?

In my opinion the only ones you are responsible to send to school are your kids. If she wants to further HER education thats HER problem. How are you going to benefit from that. PA'S make damn good money. When she gets done with school is she gonna help you out? She'll be making a heck of a lot more than $44,000 a year believe me. You are resposible for child support, medical benefits, etc. I'm a paramedic and I know what PA's make, especially if they work in industry. There are all kinds of programs she could get (grants, child care, for example), and they love to give them to single mothers. Your number one priority is the kids and not her future.

Good Luck
