I'm currently 22 years old from South Carolina and having a hard time finding a job. I'm running into a little issue. When I was 20 I was arrested for a misdemeanor and spent one night in jail. When my court date came up I told the judge what the situation was and he gave me the option of doing a PTI diversion program. Fast forward to now my charge ended up getting dropped and expunged, but I still believe it'll bar me from employment. Will I still be able to find a job?

With the exception of law enforcement and similar jobs if the record has been expunged it won't be an issue.

Unless it is an engineer that will require a security clearance you should be fine and even then there may not be a problem. Just never lie on an application for such a job. If it asks if you have ever been arrested tell the truth. You will be given an opportunity to explain.

I'm not aiming to get a government job or anything, but I heard that an expunged record can still be opened back up and accessible. Is this true? If so then do I have any hope?

Yes it can be opened but not by just anyone. It is generally law enforcement and jobs that will require security clearances.
