What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Virginia

My wife recently had a court date for custody of her daughter. After that court date and meeting with the child father we discussed me adopting her. We have a pending court date in June but all three of us want the adoption to begin as soon as possible. I am wondering if there is anyway to cancel or pull the petitions for custody and visitation so that we can begin on the adoption since I was told that we could not begin that until the custody matter was resolved. Thank you.

Have your wife consult with an attorney asap - even though her and Dad seem to be in agreement, adoption isn't a DIY project.

We are going through the attorney for the adoption I'm just wondering about the chances of getting it done prior to June are. The father is wanting to push it ASAP and is calling me asking if I've heard anything since her lawyer is in court and leaving for vacation today. So the next we will be able to meet with him is in two weeks. Just curious if its within the realm of possibilities.
