What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
For starters I'd like to say hello and thank you immensely for having a website such as this that has legal professionals willing to help people whom cannot afford to seek legal advice/recommendations. I greatly thank you for your service. With that being said I have a question regarding working, receiving pay and having those wages directly sent to an LLC or other form of personally owned business.
I fully understand the nature of this question and its intentions may in fact offend some but please understand that I am literally stuck between a rock and a hard place and honestly I am in jeopardy of losing everything I've worked so hard to rebuild.
I'd like to take a moment to briefly describe myself as to hopefully shed light on why I am here asking for this kind of question. At 22 I was diagnosed with MS after going blind. At that time my salary position suddenly was "abolished" as the company decided they no longer needed the management position I held. This led to having to file for chapter 11 and quit my part time studies at college. Due to my age and lack of building substantial earnings my SSD payment I now receive is I believe the minimum a person can receive. Which, for lack of a better word sucks but is understandable.
I am a single, never married custodial parent for my two children. One of my children receives Government assistance in the form of SSI for having ADHD. I receive very little in child support as well. I was able to purchase a home using the USDA's home loan program with a 38 year term at a 1% interest rate, a 30k grant offered by my county's community development's first time homeowners program and because my chapter 11 has cleared and I've been able to slowly rebuild my credit over the years through high interest credit cards that I've thankfully now closed and paid off.
I understood that eventually the benefits I receive for my child would cease once they turned 18 or left the home and am prepared to find part time work at that time to offset the loss in income since I do depend on that assistance for bills and living expenses. My child is severely ADHD and cannot be left in the care of others which is the reason I am unable to work until (hopefully) they become a bit older and more mature being able to better control their impulsiveness.
At the beginning of the year our case with Social Security was reviewed. I'm not sure exactly what changes in the program have happened but our financial Government assistance has decreased almost 30%. I am a VERY frugal person but since the reduction I am struggling to keep my family afloat. I would like to find a part time job for like one night a week, at night while my kids are sleeping to offset this loss in revenue. So I hope this community understands I am not someone that looks for a way to circumvent the laws or my civic duty as an American citizen to do my part in what I am asking.
I am wondering if there was a way to work but have your paycheck sent to some sort of a business or LLC or something of that nature. I almost hate myself for having to ask a question like this but if it's a matter of my children losing the first and only place they've ever been able to call home then I'll do whatever it takes to ensure they have a roof over their head, a parent that loves them as they need, food in their bellies and clothes on their backs. But the problem is if I get a job working 20 hours a month whatever I earn will be deducted from what I'm already receiving. Making any attempt to get back to "whole" a moot point.
ANY help in this matter would be more than appreciated as I am worried my children and I will not have a place to call home before Christmas.
I thank you for your time and advice.
