My OPT Work Permit expires this week. I'm currently working under a 1099 Contract. My fiance is an American Citizen and we are getting married next month.

Can I continue to work under 1099 after the expiration date? Or do I have to wait until I get my Permanent Residency card?

I appreciate your help. Thank you!

In other words: Can I continue to work until next month when I get married and while I wait for my permanent residence?

Just thinking out loud - but have you contacted Immigration to ask them?
I know that I was not allowed to work when transitioning to my resident-alien card. Although that was in 1998.
