I have a credit card debit of approx. $ 1500.00 I was out of work for awhile and am behind on all my essential bills. I have tried to make the payment arrangements I could afford, but the attorney it has been turned over to won't deal. They demand payment in full. Now they are treating to take me to court. Can my house be taken away or a lein put on my home? What CAN they do?HELP! I live in NC

If the attorney takes you to court, he can obtain a judgement against you that can eventually result in a lien on your property. This means that you would have to pay that debt in full before selling and transfering title to someone else. It does not mean he can take your house away.

OK that's good. How else would it affect me with regards to homeowner association/ taxes, etc. Is there a way to " deal" with the attorney?

It takes two to deal. If he's not willing too, either pay the debt before going to court or accept the judgement.
