What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Oregon
I filed chapter 7 on 8/22/05. Last week my attorney got a request for the last 2 years of taxes and W2's, last 6 pay stubs and last 6 months of bank statements, my attorney said this is somewhat standard but he looked over my paper work and said he wasn't sure why they are requesting this additional info on my case.
Also today I was in my manager's office and she had a stack of mail on her desk, I glanced down and the top letter was from the US bankruptcy court. So 2 questions;

1. Should I be worried about the additional financial docs that were requested, my lawyer said chap. 7 wouldn't be a problem for me, but now I am Worried!

2. Would the bankruptcy court send something to my employer about my bankruptcy, I thought they didn't do that. Its not like I can go to my manager and ask if it was about me, I really don't want anyone at work knowing.

If anybody has some reassurance I would appreciate it. My 341 meeting is on Oct. 17th and I was not worried until today about it.

Geez, Giggle, do you have a vested interest in that site you keep linking to ?? Enough already -- or maybe you WORK for these so-called 'credit counselors' ??

No, you probably have nothing to worry about. Your lawyer knows what's what with your case. Some Trustee's are more nit-picky than others.

And how do you know that letter on your boss's desk had ANYTHING to do with you and YOUR case ?? I'd be willing to bet someone else is in a Ch 13 and in that case, the employer would be noticed if payments were to come out of someone's paycheck.

Unless you owe an employer money in a Ch 7, they are NOT notified of your filing.

Ladynred: A good site is a good site, that's all.

Alot of the people on this forum can find more in depth info at other places. I often marvel at people on this forum asking the same questions over and over again when the answers are very easy to find if you just know where to look.

People rely too much on google which can lead them to this forum. This is a good forum, but it's just a forum. Most of the responses are from people like you and me who have been through this process in some way. That's great, but there are other legitimate resources out there and there is nothing wrong with a little knowledge. . . where did I see something like that before . . . hmmm, oh yeah, your signature: "Knowledge is Power - use it as you see fit !"

Google is crap. Search these same bankruptcy issues on Google and you get pages that are years old. HELLO!!! Bankruptcy has gone through the most sweeping change in more than 30 years and Google can't pick up relevant sites.

Frankly, a tremendous amount of this info that you and I and the other responders have put forth is going to be wrong come October 17, 2005.

Oh.. and that's a BAD thing ??

I beg to differ and Google is NOT the only search engine that people use. On top of that, if you don't know HOW to search, you WILL get crap. Getting GOOD results generally means more than just plugging in a word or string of words into a little box. There are methods to using ANY search engine well, and the majority of internet users have no clue how that's done !!

HELLO!!! Bankruptcy has gone through the most sweeping change in more than 30 years and Google can't pick up relevant sites.

Lets see.. 2005 - 1978 = 27 years.. since the last major change in the bankruptcy law. In fact, its attributed to Pres. Carter-- remember him ?? Maybe you don't.

Frankly, a tremendous amount of this info that you and I and the other responders have put forth is going to be wrong come October 17, 2005.

A great deal will change for a lot of people, and those of us who are serious about really trying to help will run up the same learning curve as the bankruptcy pros - and the courts - are doing now.

Okay, so I know I'm paranoid! but my brother just went through this and they didn't ask for any additional financial stuff so I was a bit concerned when they wanted the stuff from me. I appreciate the replies reassuring me. Its a hard thing to do, file bankruptcy and you just want everything to go smoothly!!!
