I recently verbally confronted (polite way of saying I cursed and blasted and spat fire at) a teenage driver, who had decided to pass me in the turn lane in front of my house, just as I was crossing lanes turning into my driveway. Two days later the police come a calling with a complaint that I pulled a gun on this individual (untrue). The police asked me if I owned a gun, which I do, I said I did.

Normally, I'd just ignore all of this, but the audacity of this driver has me enraged. Based on the facts above, what would suing for slander involve? And if it all comes down to this person's word against mine, what's the point???

Could I bring charges of filing a false police report???

thanks...

Two issues:
"what would suing for slander involve"?
A boatload of money with little or no chance of recovery.
Assuming that this driver has little or no assets, and the near impossibility of proving any of the facts, an attorney will not take this on contingency. You will have to finance the case "out-of-pocket".

"Could I bring charges of filing a false police report???"
Yes, you can contact the police department and at least make a report, but I believe that it would accomplish little other than to document your version. Based on the 'hearsay' involved, and different stories to arise without any independent verification, there is little chance of any charges arising from your complaint.
