What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

So I went to see a lawyer about my I-485 and I-130 problem, she looked into it and did some family background check, she found out that my Biological father is an AMERICAN CITIZEN I couldn't believe it. Just to let you know, we don't have a relationship but I have to get a copy of his birth Certificate and I am classified as an American Citizen because I was born between 1986 and 2000 as a rule states "If one of the child's parents is an american citizen and born outside the U.S., he is classified as an american Citizen". So I am eligible for a U.S. Passport (as the U.S. state department says). My mom found DNA Evidence and said he paid some child support when I was in High school...

I don't know what im more mad about, me spending $2000.00 on this or my mom not telling me lol. I can't believe it, I file for my U.S. Passport on monday with my lawyer. As soon as I get enough money i am going to file for Citizenship certificate.

I want to say thank you for everyone who helped me out, gave me lots of information .

Question tho: Do I really have to file for an N-600? I mean whats the purpose of it when ill be getting a Passport?

That is sort of amazing.. but didn't I ask you about this before!!! Congratulations on your 'new' citizenship! (you'll be happy to know that I get to be Canadian again if this thing happens in April).

You need the N-600 for in case you lose your passport. You should def. get it. Especially if you have a somewhat contested citz claim.

Amazing!
(followed a case like this where a 35+ y/o guy found out he was actually dual UK/US.. it was great fun to see him succeed.. and you, too!)

Thank you very much, yeah i was in shock and well the hardest part was getting a hold of my biological father which we dont have a relationship but i was glad he is going to submit his documents and stuff :).

Yeah the lawyer said to get it before my Passport expires so as soon as I get the $460 I will file and I dont think ill have any problems like I did with the I-485 and I-130 cause ill have the passport.

For everyone, don't give up! seriously I was sooo close to giving up and moving back to Canada (in which it would of set off a 10 yr bar), I remember when the Immigration officers told me to give up and move back to Canada but I told them i believe im gonna win this but sure i didnt win my case but i won something so much better.
