I was recently given a wreckless driving ticket clocked at 91mph. The trooper said I have to appear in court because the speed was so high. I recently turned 18 and have never had any other tickets or broken any other laws. I have no excuse for going as fast as i was, i was simply late. It was on a major highway in the middle of the day and i see no way of talking my way out of it. I am planning on admitting guilt and taking whatever punishment is given. The officer also mentioned that there was a possibility of 1 day in jail for every mile per hour over 90 in virginia. I dont have any other offences however so i dought that would happen.

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Well, if there is risk of jail time, I suggest you find a good attorney (criminal defense) to make sure you DONT get jail time.

I doubt you will too, but sometimes your youth, plus the excessive speed you were going, plus some judges' opinions, may go against you. By the way, I wouldn't say you were in a hurry.

Hope this helps, drive slower next time.
