I live in North carolina, and i was speeding the other night home, the officer clocked me in at 110 in a 70mph zone. All he charged me with was wreckless driving whichwa s weird to me, i shouldve been arrested on the spot for such a high speed, all he gave me was a summons though. This is my first time getting pulled over, i have a clean record and im 18, obviously it was a stupid thing to do considering what danger i put myself and others into. I just got my liscence on september 2015 and my court date is march 2016. What can i expect from this, will my criminal record be ruined, should i stop my insurance, its already high as it is im paying 160 a month. im obviously getting a lawyer but id like to know what ill be tackling. Thank you in advance.

The first thing you need to do is learn how to spell

It's reckless driving.

You may expect to lose your license for a while. What were you actually charged with, i.e. the statute number??

He could have arrested you but decided to cut you a break and you're complaining about not being arrested? Teenagers like you should not be driving because you don't consider the risks of your stupid behavior. You get a ticket and now you think you should drop your insurance? Why? So when you do hit some innocent person, you won't have any insurance coverage to pay for all the damage your stupidity is going to cause? Please. Do the world a favor. Sell your car and learn the bus routes. You are not mature enough to be entrusted behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.

I advise you to invest in a lawyer locally who handles traffic issues. He might be able to get the charges lowered. In life it is not always what we have done, but whether we have been caught.

Perhaps the youngster's confusion is that there was no car wreck, hence the driving was "wreckless". :p

Wraddawradda:
1) NC requires auto insurance. Do not drop your auto insurance. You might shop around from insurance, but if you find that you cannot afford auto insurance, then you cannot LEGALLY drive. If you drive without auto insurance and are caught, that will cause more LEGAL problems.

2) NC considers exceeding the speed limit significantly to be "in a manner to endanger". Going 40 mph above the speed limit would qualify.

3) Your "clean" record is nothing to brag about. You are barely a legal adult, and haven't been driving long.

You could get a slap on the wrist, or you could be fined $1000, spend 60 days in jail, and have your license suspended for 12 months. Additionally, as a legal adult, this will be on your record and can cause all sorts of problems.

GET A LAWYER and show up at court. Say as little as possible and let your lawyer do the talking, because you are not presenting yourself as particularly articulate here.

Thank you this is just what i was asking for, i didnt know that you cant drive around with out insurance, so does this basically mean my liscence isnt worth much without insurance?
