What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey

What action can be taken if an entire board doesn't follow their own bylaws? Records are not audited, financials have not been looked at in 5 years and the meetings are not following the proper procedure. As a board member, I have asked to see the records of the checking account and league rosters and have been refused. What legal action can I take? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

You can initiate a lawsuit for a breach of their legal duties. I suggest an attorney who will research the specific facts.

I also suggest you check your ego. The lawsuit will be expensive, you will have to pay up front, and it is far from certain you will be compensated for it even if you win.

A youth sports organization?

I understand your direction, however; am not sure why my ego would need to be addressed. This is an organization representing over 500 children. If money isn't being spent properly, what does my ego have to do with it?

You're right and the entire board is wrong? Spare me the "think of the children!" claim. Maybe your interpretation of the bylaws and the need for them in this instance are not precisely correct. Usually the way such things are settled is by elections.
