What is the name of your state? Md

What does this mean?

Court to issue Order granting defendant custody.

Sole legal custody of minor child is granted to Deft. Visitation for Pltf is reserved.

I'm not an attorney, but it looks to me -- quite clearly -- that the Defendant in the case will be awarded sole legal custody, and that the issue of visitation for the Plaintiff will be sorted out in the future.

but is custody for the defendent, me legal and physical

that always has confused me...

I can't imagine one parent would have sole legal without primary physical. Look up the diff in the MD statutes. Shouldn't be hard to google, but I'm on an anti-look-statutes-up kick. ;)

It means: Defendant (You), whom already has Physical Custody...NOW also has SOLE Legal Custody. And the Plaintiff's (other parent's) visitation is 'Reserved'. Meaning, it wasn't ordered & can be handled at a future date if either/both parties desire.

thank you.

I was reading the Maryland judiciary website, I do not have a copy of the order yet.

Over a month ago, my ex’s “supervised” visitation was suspended. She did not get her court ordered hair follicle tests, and she was showing up to supervised visitation messed up. My atty filed an emergency motion.

The hearing was very difficult. I tried to post it several times and deleted my posts because I sounded like an idiot when trying to type what happened. I couldn’t get the words out!

She showed up at the hearing ‘messed up’. The judge suspended all supervised visitation.

Everyone thinks Ohiogal ‘yells’, let me tell you, she doesn’t hold a candle to my judge. Everyone thinks they get “jumped on like a monkey on a cupcake” here on this forum hasn’t been before an irritated judge! What is worse is when they (the judge) leans forward and does a bone chilling ass chewing… I am still haunted. I really have a difficult time with this. I am torn between ‘winning’ and my daughter not ‘winning’ as far as not having two parents. It is very sad.

Anyway….full trial was a few weeks ago. My ex didn’t show up. I was awarded full custody.

As of this past Monday, my ex is in rehab for the 3rd time. She refused inpatient treatment, it is outpatient.

I want to say thanks to the Seniors and ProseDad in Maryland for all your help. Thanks Casa and Prose for your PMs.

I read this forum everyday. You are all amazing for taking the time to help people. I enjoy your knowledge, opinions, sarcasms and life experiences. I am really impressed how you cover so many aspects of each case that is posted. Bless you all for your time, and once again sorry for deleting my posts. I had a hard time focusing there for awhile.:(

Yes, it means what you think it means. Basically Sole LEGAL means that she is no longer afforded the privilege of having a sayso in any of your child's legal/educational/medical decisions.

You still want to inform her of updates, grades, etc. with your daughter. But you no longer have to confer/agree. She still has her Parental Rights (different from Custodial Rights) so she can also access grades/medical records as the child's parent...but cannot make any decisions.

Congratulations. It's a bitter-sweet victory, but Mom is only damaging her relationship with your child if she doesn't get help...so it actually IS a victory for your child. :o

If her child can't motivate her to get clean...I can't think of anything else that would motivate her. So, let's still hope~ Sometimes they DO come around. ;)

Dude, I'm going to have to quote you in another post.

Thank you for posting this, and not just because I'm going to use it elsewhere. :) Because it really means a LOT to the regular posters here.
