What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ANY
To all young single moms:
I am not a lawyer nor a law student so I don't know if the mods want this posted but I wanted to try anyway.
Last year this time I was pregnant with my son. His father disappeared and I hadn't heard from him. Me being pregnant and hormones going CRAZY I started worrying about EVERYTHING...from my X coming back to kidnap my son to him (even though he didn't have a job or anything to support him) somehow getting custody of my son.
I found this website and asked for advice. I drove everyone crazy with the what-if situations and here's what they told me...
If you have questions, here's the web sites, try Google. Do it yourself so you can learn on your own. I resented it, but they were right. I found out so much information with the resources they gave me.
I appreciate what they did, not just giving me the information but making me search for it.
My advice to all single moms in my situation is this: Use the internet as a tool. Research child custody laws FIRST....if you have questions THEN come here and ask. And as I'm sitting here typing this I'm realizing I need to do this myself
I just felt like this was something that I should say and if my information helped ONE person I accomplished my goal.
